Hello and welcome to Maple and Oak, a personal blog focusing on nature, crafting, and reading...and my cat. My name is Alison and I live in southeastern Wisconsin where I work as a coordinator in a medical laboratory, overseeing the hematology, blood bank, and urinalysis departments. My real passions, though, are history, creating things by hand and being in the great outdoors. My main outdoor activities are hiking, kayaking, and sitting with a book. The name Maple and Oak comes from my childhood. My sister and I were each allowed to pick a tree to plant in the front yard. My sister chose a pin oak and I chose a crimson king maple.
